![]() ![]() The 28.5 ounce plates do not have a slot cut out in them. On the 50 ounce plates they cut a 3/4" x 4" slot in the flex plate opposite the counter weight to get the required 50oz weight ratio. I took a piece of flat bar and cut it to the same size as the counter weight that is on the 50 ounce plate and weighed it on certified scales. The motor was balanced so I did not think that the motor was at fault so I verified the flex plate number with the parts store to find out that they gave me a 50 ounce flex plate instead of the correct 28.5 ounce. When I started the motor it vibrated badly when I tried to raise the RPM's. When I was going to install the motor and trans I noticed that the flex plate had a lot of rounded off teeth so I replaced it with a new 28.5 ounce flex plate. ![]() I put a rebuilt 1970 302 and a C4 trans in my 63 ranchero. ![]()
